If you are a woman of color you know how hard it is to care for your hair, especially when you did not grow up learning much about your hair in the first place. Let's just say the struggle is REAL.
Lately I have been seeing a number of natural hair beauty supply boutiques pop up, and personally, I am super excited, for one, knowing that I can walk in and have someone make recommendations for my hair knowing good and well that they have the knowledge and experience to do so. That's the beauty of one of our latest stockist, Marsh & Mane.
Marsh & Mane is a brick-and-mortar beauty retail store that carries a curated selection of natural hair and skin products, beauty and bath accessories and items for DIY product making. They offer a unique, shopping experience that traditionally does not exist in beauty supply stores for women of color.
Meet Jenea!

A while back the owner Jenea reached out to me via our
Instagram page to inquire about our products and I was over the moon excited that she found us! So, of course, I had to connect with Jenea and have a quick chat with her to share with you guys.
Why is it important for you to work with fellow indie brands?
Some of the best products for our hair are not available at Target. And that's not a bad thing. I want to support the local makers who spend hours in their kitchens testing ingredients to find recipes that WORK. I was also that person whipping up recipes in my kitchen. Usually, these brands are birthed out of not being able to find a commercial product that worked for them. I'm a true believer in Indie brands and will continue to support them.
How do you want your customers to feel when they leave your store?
I want my customers to leave with clarity. Navigating all of the products and techniques for natural hair can be overwhelming. We are not hair experts but we spend a lot of time researching hair and becoming experts on our own hair. If someone leaves flustered or confused then I feel like we've failed.
What is a fun fact about you/your store?
We're located in a historic building that was built in the late 1800s as a meeting place for radicals and socialists.
How did you find NaturalAnnie Essentials?
A friend of mine from back home in CT told me that she found a CT based brand sold online at another natural hair boutique. I had to check it out!
What is your NaturalAnnie Essentials best seller?
Definitely the candles. People really like the
Bergamont and
Jasmine. But they are all very popular. I'm almost sold out!
